The year started with the death of a co-worker who I have known for a few short months. When I saw the message, I immediately threw down the phone as I was unable to come to terms with what I read.
I remember texting him and wishing him a speedy recovery before he was admitted in the hospital. He was always encouraging and his spirit was so vibrant.
That was the first death of someone that I have experienced in a long while. Although it was a somber time, I tried to remember him for his words of encouragement and for his resilient nature.
It also pained my heart to know if he had accepted Christ as Lord and Savior of his life before he died. It reminded me of the scripture “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by Me” (John 14:6)
I am writing this to say that we must surrender our lives to God and allow Him to have His way in our lives. If you want to surrender your life to Christ then you can say this prayer : "Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day. Thank you that I can be sure you will fulfill your promise, that I can be assured of my salvation.“I confess my sin, and I believe you are God, my Savior. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning every part of my life over to you. I want to follow you and do what you tell me to do.
“Jesus, I am grateful for your love and sacrifice that makes it possible for me to join you in heaven. Thank you that I don’t have to earn or work for my salvation, because I know that is impossible. I want to use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I humbly commit my life to you, and I ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen"
Your next step is to find a church home and surround yourself with other believers. I pray that God will continue to guide your steps on this journey.
